In 80s, Phil began his coaching career. Before coming to train in the NBA, where triumph on the bench for Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, was training in the minor leagues. He led various teams of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and the National Basketball League of Puerto Rico (BSN). In the Latin American country, he stood out as coach. There he trained the top two teams in the league such as Pirates of Quebradillas, between 1984 and 1987, and the Cock of Isabela between 1984 and 1986. Jackson began as assistant coach of Chicago and two years later in 1989, took over the basketball team as head coach. This was the litmus test for Phil Jackson which he passed with flying colors.
Jackson was in the Illinois team bench as head coach between 1989 and 1998. There was a time in between where Jackson left, temporarily, to lead the Los Angeles Lakers. This happened because of the great tension between Jackson and Kobe Bryant. Shaquille O’Neal left the team, however, Phil returned to the bench to face the end of a disastrous season for California team. Jackson won NBA championship five times. In this way, he won five more championship rings, which were added to those already achieved with his former basketball team, the Chicago Bulls.
