Downtown is a word used mainly in America by English speakers to name a city center or in a geographical, commercial, and community sense, and it is also known as the central business district of the city. Downtown Dubai, previously known as Downtown Burj Dubai, consists of large scale and multi-use complexes that are being developed in Dubai. Some of Dubai’s most famous attractions such as Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain are located here and some other major projects such as Green Community and Dubai Palm Island are in the vicinity of this place. Downtown Dubai has a covered area of 2 square kilometers, and it is estimated to cost $20 billion.
Just like staying in the downtown of any city, living in Dubai downtown is full of many pros and cons. Downtown is mostly the central nerve or core of any modern city, since it is home to the city’s geographical happenings, commercial activities and community events. Where most western downtowns in the cities are bothered with issues like dust, crime, subways, overcrowding, high taxes, and deprived public schools, Dubai’s downtown does not face such issues, especially crimes rate which is almost non-existent in Dubai.
Downtown Dubai is not a 100% green place, but it certainly promotes it and they have dedicatedly launched a community like the Green Community. This type of community promotes the conservation of the land and it provides many types of transportation opportunities, encouraging to make an open space for recreation and cultivation activities, and it uses the available natural and cultural resources intelligently. It is the best idea to promote the communities with green surroundings. In fact, in most of the human history, the term ‘green’ was nothing special, but it was the common lifestyle. Our ancestors were used to arrange their timetable from the rising and setting of the sun. As healthy areas used to result in healthy yields, resulting in healthy people, so living in collaboration with Mother Nature was the ultimate choice as it is the substance of our survival. Our ancestors may not have used the specific terms such as ‘sustainable growth’ or ‘smart development’, but still they knew that a healthy place should have clean air, fertile soil, fresh water and eco-friendly methods of transporting goods and people.
Dubai Palm Island also known as Jumeirah Palm Island is one of the most hopeful real estate development projects not only in Dubai but also in the world. It is considered to be the 8th marvel in the world due to the fact that it is visible from the moon like the Great Wall of China, which is another major milestone for Dubai. Unlike Downtown Dubai, this project can be considered a better example of green community, as it focuses on sustainable development and better transport facilities. Dubai is developing day by day with rapid growth which makes it a great potential opportunity for the investors.
