AARP is an independent non-profit organization that serves the needs and interests of people 50 years of age or older. It was founded in 1958 by a retired teacher, Ethel Andrus, being merged in 1982 with the National Retired Teachers Association, also founded by Andrus in 1947.

AARP was founded to provide affordable health insurance for retired teachers as well as other benefits, and over time became a national organization for anyone over 50 years.

Its bimonthly magazine, ‘AARP The Magazine’ is the largest circulation of all periodicals in the United States with more than 35 million subscribers.

AARP offers many services and discounts to people over 50, including health insurance. More than once, AARP members are looking for supplemental insurance to add coverage where Medicare may be lacking.

AARP offers an insurance program called ‘Complete Medicare’ through Secure Horizons, which does not offer coverage to patients with pre-existing conditions. Some programs have limits on pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, and do not require physical exams to qualify. The program may be free for some members.

AARP offers Medicare supplement plans through United Healthcare too. Supplemental Medicare plans are also known as Medigap plans because they help pay for some of the medical and hospital expenses that Medicare does not cover. Flexibility

Supplemental Medicare coverage travels through supplemental Medicare plans

The Americans allow individuals to maintain their own doctors, specialists and hospitals. If a health care facility accepts Medicare, it accepts Medicare supplement plans. Unlike some HMO plans, Medicare supplemental coverage travels with the individual, so there are no out-of-network charges.

There are numerous Medicare supplement plans. Those with higher premiums offer wider benefits. For example, Plan F pays the Medicare hospital deductible, while Plan A does not. The plans also differ in whether you pay for coinsurance that is excluded by Medicare. AARP and other insurance providers offer graphs that illustrate side-by-side comparisons of coverage to help the individuals determine which plan is right for them.

They charge a monthly premium. However, until your Medicare coverage limits are met, there are no additional copayments or coinsurance charges. When a person chooses a Medicare supplement plan, they will also have to choose a Part D prescription drug plan. In addition, Medicare Part B charges will be taken from Social Security benefits.

AARP Insurance Plans are the signs of light in the darkness for the people who are over 50 and they can plan their future using AARP Insurance Plans with absolute peace of mind.
