So January is nearly over but hey, Happy New Year! How’s life treating ya?
It’s been nearly a month since I published a new post. I have started several drafts but never finished them. I wrote a crap review for the first book for Project 36 and have let it sit there. And yet, I refuse to call any of this writer’s block. Life is just…crazy. And so is my writing.
When it comes to writing I go in phases. Some weeks I will write nothing at all other than e-mails, status messages, and random comments on various sites I frequent. As much as I love to write the desire to crank out a post doesn’t appeal to me. I cannot explain it.
The entire month of January has been one of those strange months in my life where everything and nothing all happened. I often spent time lounging around at my desk, staring at the screen in a caffeine-induced haze contemplating whether I should get off my ass and go do something. At times, I did go out to run errands or meet with a friend.
Over the MLK holiday weekend hubby and I traveled to Southern California for a bit of Route 66 fun and adventure. The overnight trip was much needed time away from Vegas but I admit I needed more than a couple days away. The spring semester started for me the day after we returned from Southern California.
Fatigued, bloated, and in a bit of a funk I walked through campus the first day wanting to go home. I was excited to be back in class knowing it would keep me busy but my body and my mind were both saying, “F**k this. We want to relax.”
That first class I attended was an eye opener. And it intimidated me a bit. The professor made it a point to tell us several times this would not be an easy class. Seven graded writing assignments and 6 ungraded writing assignments. She also let us know in no uncertain terms she would kick our asses out of our comfort zones. Yipes!
Even though I had a “Holy shit!” moment I still felt motivated and determined to kick this semester’s ass. It’ll be a lot of work and will definitely challenge me as a writer but I’m looking forward to it. My writing skills have unfortunately gone the way of sucktastic over the years so I welcome a good ass kicking to hone those skills.
Other than that, I’m focusing my energies on weight loss and creating new posts for Who Took My Donut? Writing for two blogs is proving to be a challenge but I suspect this writing funk and the start of the new semester have me feeling a tad overwhelmed.
Hopefully as the weeks and months go on I’ll be posting on this site more along with the other one. I’ll be busy with class but I don’t want to neglect either blog so even if my posts end up being only once a week that’s okay with me.
And as I close this out I’ll note that I rarely apologize but this time I’m going to do so if this post seems a bit more like rambling nonsense. Just one of those days where rambling helps.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Kim!
I Think this one “rambling nonsense” post is actually one many can and will idenfy with. I cannot speak for anyone else, but for me, what you wrote is exactly how life goes! Made me smile to see your professor will kick you out of your comfort zone. We all need that once in a while. Glad you feel motivated to kick this semester’s arse… and I have no doubts you will do just that. Realizing only two-days away on the road-trip was too short… Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all be on eternal raod-trip? Your life may not be perfect, but I am glad “Life Gets Crazy”. ~=:-)
